Rebranding, Web Design & Build For Established London Building Contractor
About The Project
CLG Enterprises have been providing commercial property maintenance and building contractor services across London and the South-East since 1993. CLG approached Web Method in the summer of 2015, requesting a redesign and rebuild of their website. Their previous website had fallen into a state of disrepair, was difficult to maintain and wasn’t optimised for mobile or SEO. CLG wanted a new website that reflected their company values, heritage and experience in order to capture new leads and grow their business.
Logo & Rebranding
After initial conversations, we established that their company logo was also in need of a refresh. The aspect ratio (dimensions) of the existing company logo did not lend itself well to displaying well on a modern website header. It was also a good opportunity to modernise the CLG Enterprises brand to have wider appeal to potential customers.
We conducted industry research, and captured the client’s requirements for style and palette. CLG wanted an image alongside the logo that represented the building construction industry, so we created a 3D logo block effect for “CLG” based on a flat design.
The brief required a non-transactional website that showed CLG’s key property maintenance & construction services. As trust is a key factor in commercial construction, they also wanted to incorporate genuine testimonials from key clients.
Our team designed the website to stand out from its competitors by being accessible, modern, useful and engaging. Many building construction and facilities management companies have quite dated websites. We wanted to buck this trend for CLG Enterprises by creating a digital presence that demonstrated their commitment to connecting with new customers online.
Local SEO & Website Usability
The website needed to be optimised for SEO, and the technical architecture of the website was structured to support this. We created a limited number of high quality, long form content pages describing their services in detail, with case studies to support their experience. This approach aligned the desired experience of a potential customer with that of Google’s crawler & algorithm.
We optimised page titles, descriptions & content to target keywords, but also to increase Click-Through (CTR) from Google’s search results pages (SERPs). We also configured their Google Search Console and Google Analytics accounts in order to be able to accurately track SEO traffic & performance.
Local SEO is a key customer acquisition factor for CLG Enterprises, so we audited their local SEO listings using a series of paid tools in order to increase the likelihood of being included in the Google Maps “3 pack” or “7 pack” for local users searching for construction & maintenance services.
WordPress Platform, Hosting & Training
We chose WordPress to build the CLG Enterprises website on, and we now host this on Web Method’s Managed WordPress hosting platform for small businesses. WordPress was the perfect website solution for this project as it’s Open Source & free to use, but it also makes it very easy to maintain and update a website’s content.
At the end of the project, we provided free face-to-face Wordpress training to the CLG team so that they could manage their website content cost effectively.
